Recurrent fever after TURP surgery
My father had enlarged prostate and had recurrent UTI. He underwent TURP surgery 2 months ago. Since then, he has been experiencing recurrent low-grade fever (around 99°F). The fever resolves while he is on antibiotics but returns within a few days of stopping them. His urine culture repeatedly shows E. coli. Occasionally, he also notices small black particles or yellowish pus-like material in the urine. There is no high-grade fever or severe chills. Could you please guide what to be done?

Thank you for sharing your concern. Based on your signs and symptoms, a urinary tract infection (UTI) or prostatitis should be ruled out. Further evaluation, including appropriate laboratory investigations such as a urine routine examination, urine culture and sensitivity, complete blood count (CBC), and other relevant tests, is recommended to establish the diagnosis and guide appropriate treatment.
