Ultrasonic therapy for patella issues
I have been diagnosed with PFPS and patella alta. My MRI says congenitally or developmental lateral trochlear ridge and Patella alta. My patella tendon is longer than usual in the structure. And MRI report says mild lateral subluxation. So, my Ortho suggested PT for Patella alta, PFPS. Going to PT for past 3 and a half months. No improvement in my symptoms. I still have the same burning pain around the knee (upper and lateral side). Have little swelling too. Tried 2 sessions of aggressive dry needling. It makes the thigh and above the knee area very sore. It doesn't help in my symptoms. What is ultrasonic therapy? How to do that? Does it help in my condition? If my patella alta is mentioned as congenitally, can we bring it down through the PT? Is it possible? What should I focus on PT now? Only for my lateral subluxation? Any inputs please. How long does it take to recover? I am having the same burning pain for past 6 months. No injury. It started with my new walking routine which I did.

Chiropractic treatment can also help you to recover from your condition. Patella alta and pfps has connection with your pelvis imbalance. Chiropractic treatment can correct pelvis imbalance as well as patella alta. Do cycling regularly in gym with free gear for 30 minutes. It can improve mobility and blood flow in your knee.

Your condition doesn't require passive therapy such as dry needling or ultrasound. Ultrasound is just sound waves delivered to reduce pain and swelling. These will only treat the symptoms. Considering the patellar position in your condition you need to do strengthening exercises for the medial quadriceps, stretching of lateral structures like it band and patellar taping. Exercises Will help reduce the swelling.
