TSH range to conceive
Hi, I am married since last 2 years. We are trying for baby for last 6-7 months but aint getting lucky. I am on thyronorm 25 mcg (DAILY) and folic acid tablets. I got my medical tests. My prolactin and AMH are normal. Vit D is on lower side for which I have started medication. TSH is 2.7 ,T3 and T4 are normal. My gyaeni suggests to increase dosage of thyroid medicine to 50 mcg twice a week and rest of the days as 25 mcg (presently its 25 mcg daily). This is because the normal range to conceive is upto 2.5. I am really curious to know whether its really required to increase my dosage and if I increase it, then will have to continue with increased dosage throughout. Can I avoid increasing my thyronorm dosage? Is there any other alternative?

Hello, You should try for at least 1 year to conceive naturally. Also, it is true that TSH should be below 2.5 to conceive. Hence, your gynaeoclogist increased your Thyronorm dosage. So it is fine. Also, get routine TSH tests done. Wish you luck.

What your gynaecologist says is true. Since for conception the required range is 2.5 and less. However if you want a second opinion repeat the Ft4 and Tsh levels and speak to endocrinologist.
