Hello, teeth whitening is changing the shade of tooth colour by 1 or 2 shades using chemicals. Scaling is removing deposits from teeth. cost varies from case to case.

Teeth can become more yellow with age and with continuous consumption of dark staining foods like coffee, tea, red wine or tobacco.
Teeth whitening is a cosmetic dental procedure that lightens pigmentation within the teeth. Scaling and polishing is a procedure that removes dental plaque, tartar and extrinsic stains that are present on the outer surface of the teeth.
Scaling and polishing cleans your teeth, preventing and controlling the severity of gum diseases. After scaling & polishing, teeth can appear lighter if there are many stains on the outer surface of the teeth. If the intrinsic colour of teeth is very yellow, there will be no changes after teeth cleaning as the yellow colour comes from inside the tooth.

Scaling and polishing removes the deposits and stains over your teeth.. this is the main difference..

Mam,scaling and polishing is done to remove the external deposits like plaque,calculus and stains.Tooth whitening or bleaching is done to change or lighten the shade of the existing tooth colour.It Is effective depending on the type of intrinsic stains.Visit a cosmetic dentist.

Scaling and polishing will only remove the plaque and calculus over the teeth which has been accumulated over a long period of time . Calculus is the hard deposit over the teeth which will not get cleaned by simple brushing and requires a dentist intervention. Teeth whitening is a procedure also known as bleaching of teeth , in which the yellowish colour of teeth can be made brighter and whiter with help of a chemical . Ideally office bleach which is done in the dental clinic is the best as it will be monitored by the dentist . There are some home bleaches available as well , requires stringent efforts from patient's side as well .
