Pls find out the reason why your tooth nerve ( Pulp - in dental terms) got exposed, eg: caries, attrition or erosion If caries then it can be taken care of with the help of RCT. But if attrition or erosion then ther are added occlusal corrections needed so that it doesn't cause any further damage.
Next Steps
get complete check up done ( preferably get a prosthodontic consultation done)
Health Tips
don't delay

Firstly root canal treatment actually is saving your tooth. The nerve is exposed means you will be in tremendous pain. Use Colgate painout for immediate relief but also visit a dentist at the earliest or extraction would be the only left over option. Also do tell if you have a swelling or pus.
Next Steps
Visit an endodontist and start up on antibiotics and painkillers asap
Health Tips
don't let food get lodged there
