Sir, removal of tooth is a method of gaining space to aligned the arch. But you tell, you had a complaint of spacing in upper front teeth, then why you extract upper premolar tooth. Because when extraction, then you get more space and how to accommodate the upper arch and lower arch. So now this is essential of extraction in lower arch. But you want to close space in upper arch only then extraction in upper arch not required. But when you want to correct the profile for prognathism (protrusion), then extraction sometimes required and also requirements of braces in lower arch followed by extraction.
Next Steps
please discuss with your dentist for planning of your treatment.

Removal of teeth during orthodontics is quite normal practice. But as you said that you have gaps in your upper teeth and earlier upper premolar was removed and now you have to remove lower also. It would be better if you ask the orthodontist to explain the treatment plan to you and ask about all your queries before you go ahead with anymore extractions.
Next Steps
Talk to your dentist about Treatment options, with and without extractions.

Yes.. in order to create space sm specific teeth may need to be removed. If you are worried about the this space may remain.. do not worry... it will be closed over a period of time as the trreatment procceds.
