Tablets for pain
I have ankle pain and swelling from a week. I have been prescribed tofe 5mg and hcqs tablets for 2 weeks along with pain killers. Will they help reducing swelling and pain? I do not have arthritis but have uric acid. RA is negative, KFT and LFT are normal as well.

1 week is too short a history to be prescribed Tofacitinib.
Next Steps
You need a thorough work-up by a Rheumatologist to come to a conclusive diagnosis.

The medicines you have mentioned help some patients. They don't help others. No prediction can be made for your case.

These medicines are specifically used to treat inflammatory joint conditions like rheumatoid arthritis. You should discuss the reason for using them, with the physician who has prescribed. To be effective they need to be taken for a long time.

Opinion: The medications prescribed to you, Tofe 5mg (likely Tofacitinib) and HCQS (Hydroxychloroquine), are commonly used for inflammatory conditions and may help reduce pain and swelling. While these medications are effective, their use in the absence of confirmed arthritis or autoimmune conditions should be closely monitored. Given your elevated uric acid levels, gout could be a potential cause of your symptoms. Next steps: 1. **Medication Adherence:** Continue taking the prescribed medications as directed by your doctor. 2. **Monitor Symptoms:** Keep track of your symptoms and note any changes or improvements. 3. **Follow-up Consultation:** Schedule a follow-up appointment with me, online or offline, to review your progress and adjust treatment if necessary. 4. **Lifestyle Adjustments:** Maintain a healthy diet low in purines, stay hydrated, and avoid alcohol to help manage uric acid levels. 5. **Pain Management:** Continue using the prescribed painkillers as needed, but do not exceed the recommended dosage. Please book an appointment with me to ensure your treatment is on track and to discuss any further steps. Your health and recovery are my priorities.
