Swollen Ankle
My Ankles is swollen from the last 4 months. Its very painful. I am given a ibuprofen medicine for this and an ointment for the same. Ibuprofen 600mg for 3 times a day.

Painful ankles at ur age are most commonly because of gout- increased Uric acid levels Pls check ur Uric acid, vitamin B-12 and vitamin D Have at least 3 L of water before 5 o’clock in the evening Avoid sitting on ground and keep your legs elevated at all times if you have Swelling in the hands too you should see a rheumatologist

Pain in the ankle most probably is due to trauma or infections as it is a long standing pain this might be any sequelae to trauma we need to see x-ray and if required we need to do MRI and plan treatment it is better to visit once for examination

We may need few more inputs How did the swelling start sudden or slow Is there any other joints having swelling and pain..? Is there stifness in the joints in the morning.. Are you having Diabetes high BP asthma kidney liver problem When would be the swelling more..? Would swelling increases in ambulation Is there history of  injury /fever/weight loss/appetite loss Is the area near the swelling red warm Is there an ulcer around that area Are there any visible swollen veins you see on the legs

if the answer yes to the above questions you may need to do some blood tests CBP ESR CRP RBS S CREATININE TSH S URIC ACID LFT

for the time being you can do ankle range of motion exercises which is important to decrease swelling do it when ever you have time keep your leg elevated from ground level while sleeping keep a pillow under the leg apply ice pack local ointment application if the skin is normal ping me for after blood reports or any other queries

If you taking for Ibuprofen 600 mg 3 times daily for last 4 months Your kidney get compromise.
