Swelling on forehead due to impact
I got dizzy after taking blood sample for tests , went and hit my head while standing up and now there's a visibly large swelling on my forehead. The nurse mentioned it's hematoma and to apply something once I get better.I applied ice for relief but is there any way to reduce the swelling? I don't experience any other discomfort.

If it's only a swelling over the forehead, apply ice pack few times daily, apply hirudoid gel . However if you experience any symptoms related to head injury visit a nearby hospital.

Dear patient, I understand you experienced dizziness after a blood sample was taken, resulting in a fall and a visible swelling on your forehead. The nurse correctly identified it as a hematoma. Here's some advice to help manage your condition: 1. Continue applying ice as you've been doing. Use it for 15-20 minutes every 1-2 hours for the first 24-48 hours to reduce swelling. 2. After 48 hours, switch to warm compresses to help the body reabsorb the hematoma. 3. Keep your head elevated while resting to minimize swelling. 4. Over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen can help with discomfort. Avoid aspirin or ibuprofen as they may increase bleeding. 5. Gently massage the area after a few days to help disperse the collected blood. 6. Arnica gel or cream may help reduce bruising and swelling. Monitor for any worsening symptoms such as severe headache, vision changes, or confusion. If these occur, seek immediate medical attention. For a more thorough evaluation and personalized treatment plan, I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation. You can also reach out to me on WhatsApp at eight zero zero nine eight two one three three two . Take care and don't hesitate to seek further medical advice if your symptoms persist or worsen.
