Since the complains are one sided , a high probability that it could be of any food substance obstructing the upper part of oesophagus. Differentiate the pain if it is only on swallowing or if it persists on applying gentle pressure on only left side or both sides. If 2-3 attempts of lukewarm salt water gargle and drinking plenty of fluids don’t resolve your complaint. Do not stress on further home remedies.
Next Steps
Consult an ENT specialist for further examination and confirm the need for any procedures to resolve your complaint.
Health Tips
It is a very common problem and no cause of any reason to panic and worsen the symptoms.

Given that you feel pain sensation while swallowing something,it might be reflux of acid in the throat which irritates your throat lining.
Next Steps
Luke warm water gargles (add some salt if possible)
Health Tips
1.Avoid spicy food. 2. Don't take too much water with food, taking sips of water is okay. 2.Don't lie down right away after having a meal. 3. If you're job is stressful and tiresome, make sure you spare some time and relax a bit.

Intermittent pain or a thorn-like sensation while swallowing can occur due to throat irritation, tonsil inflammation or acid reflux. Proper assessment is needed to identify the cause.
Next Steps
Observe the symptoms for a few days and avoid very spicy foods, smoking and other throat irritants. If it persists or worsens, get examined.
Health Tips
If you have difficulty swallowing, fever, swelling or breathing difficulty, seek medical attention. You can also consult me via Practo for a proper assessment and treatment plan.

The best thing right now is to calmly go see an ENT doctor who can look down your throat and diagnose the right problem.
Next Steps
For the time being before booking an appointment you can take small sips of warm water and see if the gritty stingy sensation reduces.

A thorn-like feeling in your throat or under your tongue can happen when a salivary gland stone irritates nearby tissues or partially blocks a saliva duct. Also ruleout any food particles stuck in throat.. Get yourself checked personally from a ENT specialist

sharp/“thorn-like” sensation on one side of the throat that occurs intermittently when swallowing is fairly common and is often due to a minor local irritation, but the fact that it is unilateral is worth monitoring. Possible causes Small mucosal abrasion from food, especially a sharp food fragment/fish bone. Tonsillar irritation/tonsillitis—look for redness, swelling or white patches. Post-viral irritation or postnasal drip. Acid reflux/LPR, which can produce intermittent throat irritation or a foreign-body sensation. Globus sensation, particularly if you can eat and drink normally and the sensation comes and goes. Less commonly, a retained foreign body such as a fish/chicken bone.
