It's going to be a year now since I'm having suicidal thoughts. Sometimes I get a constant urge to just kill myself. I feel empty, worthless, sleepless. I don't know is it just normal or should I consult someone. I tried talking to a friend about it but the words don't come out of my mouth. Most of the nights I cry myself to sleep for no reasons. I feel like giving up. Don't know what should I do.

Hello! Thank you for reaching out.
Your courage to speak-out about your current situation is highly appreciated and demonstrates your willingness to fight these negative feelings within you.
There are multiple factors that can lead you into feeling the way youâre, but you should know that it is completely normal to have these thoughts. Consulting a therapist is the best thing to do, it is not abnormal. Mental health, like your physical health, is very crucial and needs professional guidance every once in a while and addressing it while it is bad should be your top priority. It is common to not be able to talk to your closed ones regarding your feelings due to the fear of judgement or multiple other reasons, but it is very important for you to know that youâre very valuable to your loved ones and the society. Please reach out to a therapist for further discussion regarding this asap.
Alternatively, you could even use grounding techniques- which help you to ground and feel emotionally okay with the situation instead of feeling out of control. These could be something as simple as repeating a mantra/affirmation (âI have control over this situationâ or others), holding onto an object, breathwork (4-7-8 technique) or visual calming down (using a soft focus on a colour you find soothing) can help.
We would highly recommend you to approach a professional counsellor/mental health practitioner (preferably someone with CBT specialisation) who would be able to guide you through in a safe and non-judgemental manner. It is perfectly okay to seek out professional help from mental health practitioners from organisations or independent set ups.

Hi... Depression and suicidal thoughts are quite high in young adults and working professionals but that doesn't mean it is okay to ignore them.
Sometimes it builds up due to some constant stressor (work deadlines, examination/academic stress, peer pressure, martial/Interpersonal relationship concern, etc.) but the root is usually deep down inside.
Psychotherapy/Counselling will help you identify the root cause of your condition and will help you overcome it in a longer plane of time.
If the intensity and frequency of your suicidal thoughts are high, I suggest you take a Psychiatric Consultation. Medication helps in suppressing these suicidal urges with immediacy.
Medication and Therapy go side-by-side in such cases to prevent any negative consequence.
Next Steps
Take a Psychiatric Consultation and start taking Counselling Sessions from a Psychologist.

Do seek a professional support..
Sometimes, by talking to friends and family members you may not get clarity..
One is because you cannot talk openly with them.
Secondly, they also try to talk to you from their perspective..
So, it is better to consult a psychological Counselor to understand yourself better and to overcome this issue..
