A sudden brief episode of dizziness with a racing heartbeat at 26 is most often due to a benign cause such as dehydration, low blood sugar from a missed meal, anxiety or a sudden change in posture. Less commonly it can be from anaemia, thyroid overactivity or a transient rhythm disturbance, so it should not be ignored if it repeats.
Next Steps
Please get an in-person check-up with an ECG, blood pressure recording, haemoglobin, blood sugar and thyroid profile. Keep well hydrated, do not skip meals, avoid excess caffeine and energy drinks, get regular sleep, and stand up slowly. Maintain a simple diary of when episodes occur and how long they last.
Health Tips
Please seek emergency care immediately if you get chest pain, fainting or near-fainting, severe breathlessness, or a racing heartbeat that does not settle. Otherwise this can be sorted out with a simple in-person evaluation. You are welcome to follow up with me on a Practo online consult, or visit me at Synergy Multispeciality Hospital, Miraj, for an examination and ECG.
