I see that social gatherings make you uncomfortable. You've shared your unease and mentioned how your work life is being affected. I can only imagine how suffocating this may be for you. Each person has some fears and discomforts. It is completely alright to seek help from mental health professionals to cope with our concerns. I insist that you connect with a psychologist/counselor to explore this concern more. Self-diagnosis can lead to added distress. A counselor can help you identify the triggers, and develop emotional regulation mechanisms. Counseling will not only provide you with a safe space to share your feelings, but also help you slowly ease into the process of attending social gatherings. I want to emphasize it again that it is alright to seek help when we are in discomfort. I hope this provides you with clarity.
