Sleeplessness
I had been diagnosed with depression as a cause of my sleeplessness about three years back and was prescribed Escitalopram oxalate 10 mg( Feliz -s 10) one tablet daily. However, I forget to take them once or twice in a week. I have moved from my city where I had consulted my psychiatrist and since I had no access to him I was afraid that discontinuimg them would cause problems. My problems of sleepless ness however now seem to be corrected. I have another problems which are not associated to this, like smoking( which I'm trying to quit) and mild mitral valve prolapse with trivial mitral regurgitation. I would appreciate if someone advises me how to take this forward, as in should I consult a new psychiatrist, or should I discontinue them on my own. I have heard that yoga can help in this respect, so should I adopt a yoga routine and give up on such medicines. Please advise. Thanks

Hello there.... Avoid or limit caffeine and alcohol and don't use nicotine. All of these can make it harder to sleep. Avoid caffeine after lunchtime. Avoiding alcohol can help prevent restless sleep and frequent awakenings..... Stick to a sleep schedule. Keep your bedtime and wake time consistent from day to day, including on weekends...Get treatment for the mitral regurgitation..... Consult Physician....
