I have severe pain in the lower jaw for 3 years now. Near the ear lobe where the lower mandible jaw ends. Have seen several specialists and no relief yet.
Same pain for 3 years. Have had cbct and MRI of TMJ and normal. Have taken several xrays.
When I went to dentist for first time for this jaw pain visit in 2020, he tapped on all tooth and 46 hurts a lot for tapping&biting. Took CBCT and normal. Did trial RCT by Endo as they suspect 46 cause for my jaw pain.
Did several retreatments of RCT on 46 for 2 years and ended up pulling July'22. But no relief in jaw pain even after pulling 46.
47 gum is painful since 2021. I went to periodontist 2 years ago and no issues in gums. But it's so throbbing till now. Surrounding margin gum is so painful and throbbing underneath.
I had 2 times SRP on that tooth as it keeps getting very bad tartar buildup. I had one SRP 3 weeks ago. Picture taken before SRP. have severe pain in the gum even after doing SRP. Severe pain in the gum. infection?

You have consulted several specialists, undergone various imaging tests such as CBCT and MRI of the TMJ, and have had dental treatments including root canal treatments and scaling and root planing (SRP).
However, despite these interventions, you have not found relief from the jaw pain, and you are currently experiencing throbbing and painful gums, particularly around tooth 47.
Given the complexity and persistence of your symptoms, it is important to continue seeking the advice of dental and medical professionals who can conduct a thorough evaluation and provide a comprehensive treatment plan. While I cannot diagnose your specific condition, here are a few considerations:
Consultation with a TMJ specialist: Given the location of your pain and the inconclusive results from previous imaging tests, it may be beneficial to consult with a specialist who specifically focuses on temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. They can conduct a detailed evaluation of your jaw joint, bite, and associated structures to determine if there are any underlying TMJ-related issues contributing to your symptoms.
Reevaluation of tooth 47: Since you are experiencing severe pain and throbbing in the gum around tooth 47, it is important to have this area reevaluated by a dental professional. They can assess the health of the tooth, check for any signs of infection or inflammation, and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.
Continued consultation with a periodontist: If you are experiencing recurrent tartar buildup and gum issues, it may be helpful to continue working with a periodontist who can address your periodontal health and provide treatment options to manage gum inflammation and infection.
Remember, these suggestions are general in nature, and it is crucial to consult with dental and medical professionals who can provide a thorough evaluation and personalized recommendations based on your specific condition. They will be able to review your complete dental and medical history, conduct any necessary tests, and develop a comprehensive treatment plan to address your concerns and alleviate your pain.
hi
Sorry for what you are going through. From what you have written looks like your dentist tried every possible thing.I am guessing it could be phantom pain. But need to do further investigation to come to a conclusion. Please see an oral surgeon for further investigation. In the mean time you can use over the counter pain meds.
