Hi, It's crucial to approach the discontinuation of medication for schizophrenia with caution and under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional. Since you've been on medication for six years and are gradually tapering your dosage, it's essential to consult your psychiatrist or healthcare provider about your specific situation. They can evaluate your current symptoms, overall mental health, and any potential risks associated with stopping medication. The process of discontinuation may vary significantly from person to person, and it's important to have a tailored plan that ensures your safety and well-being. In some cases, ongoing maintenance therapy may be recommended to prevent relapse. Always communicate openly with your doctor about any concerns you have, and don't make changes to your medication regimen without professional advice.

It's important to understand that schizophrenia is a chronic mental health condition, and managing it usually requires long-term treatment. Stopping medication too soon or without professional guidance can lead to relapse or worsening of symptoms. Gradually reducing the dosage, as you mentioned, is a common approach to tapering off medication, but this process should always be done under the supervision of your healthcare provider.
Next Steps
Discuss with your doctor.

Hi, i can understand it must be extremely tough for you to be under medication for over 6 years. But I strongly suggest that you should connect with your psychiatrist before taking a decision on the prescribed medication. Please talk about any improvements or declines in detail to your psychiatrist and they can help you with your dosage of medication.

Consult a psychologist to vent out your feelings and describe how schizophrenia is still affecting you in the present. With regards to stopping medicine , if you are functioning well without the medicine then we can call for a stoppage if the psychiatrist gives consent.
Next Steps
Consult both psychiatrist and psychologist

The best thing to do is ask your psychiatrist about the medication and follow the doctor’s suggestions thoroughly. The medications need to be taken as per a specific structure for a reason.
