Root canal
Hi Recently I had undergone root canal treatment and the doctor had suggested that they do post and core for crown placement. He had advised me that it is quite normal to have screw and then place the crown. But I have not undergone this kind of procedure previous, so little bit apprehensive. Is it ok to have screw for crown placement and is it the current trend? Thanks

Hello. 1)If the tooth structure is compromised, less and weak, placing post and core is normal, you can proceed with it for better strength and stability. 2)Previous your tooth structure would have been sound enough hence they haven't used it, as it wasn't necessary
Next Steps
It's absolutely okey, it's traditional trend followed since very long.

Hi, Placing a post before a crown placement helps in improving the strength of the tooth. This is usually done when excessive tooth structure is lost due to tooth decay or toot fracture. This procedure is safe.
