Root Canal & Cap
After root canal is done is it mandatory to put cap on that teeth because I heard from one of the experienced doctor that the cap is just cosmetic doctor suggest that just to get profit from the cap as well it has nothing to do with protecting the teeth..Also for my father the cap has come out within 6 months..And we have paid a lot for it

Major reason behind doing root canal treatment is to save the infected tooth from bacteria and to avoid extraction followed by replacement with artificial tooth. After the root canal treatment the offended tooth loses its vitality and becomes brittle. It is mandatory to give a cap on top of root canal treated tooth to reinforce and give strength when patient chews food.It actually avoids fracture of the tooth. Caps can be refitted when it is dislodged.

No it is absolutely not like this, the function of the cap is to protect the tooth from fracture and re-infection,,rarely the cap gets dislodged,,it can be recemented.

A root canal treated tooth becomes brittle over years and is more prone to fracture due to chewing forces. For longer retention of RCT treated tooth and reduced chances of reinfection, a full coverage restoration in form of crown/cap or partial coverage restoration in form of onlay is necessary after a root canal procedure. Refixing a dislodged crown is a very simple and cheap procedure.
