Regarding medicine Substitute
My Grandmother aged 88 yrs has been prescribed Ceftum 500 for a recent chest infection by the doctor but the size of the medicine is so large that she is facing difficulty with swallowing this medicine and it is also inducing nausea due to this. Is there any easy way to give this medicine to her? Like either dissolving it in water before giving or maybe some liquid alternative for it? Please do let me know.

Ceftum (Cefuroxime is available as suspension 125 mg/5mls) therefore for 500 mls you need to give 20 mls of this suspension- have slowly.
Nausea is common with antibiotics specially in unwell and elderly patients. Please give tab Ondansetron 4 mg (mouth dissolving) 30 mins before giving antibiotics.
Itcan be given in form of injection as well if there is a medical facility nearby.
