Since you have response on Quetiapine 50, weight gain, lipid profile monitoring, RBS evaluation is necessary
There are other alternatives too such as zolpidem, melatonin which are not associated with weight gain
Quetiapine can be taken on this dose for a long time, important is to have record of weight, RBS, Lipid profile
Hi,
Quetiapine (Quitipin) is often used for sleep and mood issues, but long-term use can indeed lead to side effects such as weight gain, metabolic changes, and sedation. It is generally considered safe under medical supervision, but regular monitoring of weight, blood sugar, and lipids is advised. If weight gain is a significant concern, you should discuss with your psychiatrist about dose adjustment, switching to a lower-risk medication, or adding non-medication strategies for sleep. Alternatives within the same group (atypical antipsychotics) with relatively lower risk of weight gain include aripiprazole or lurasidone, but their sedative effect is less, so suitability depends on your primary symptoms.
Next Steps
1. Do not stop Quetiapine suddenly, as this may cause sleep disturbance or withdrawal symptoms.
2. Any switch or dose change should be done gradually and only under psychiatric supervision.
3. Alongside medication, focus on sleep hygiene, regular exercise, and dietary measures to minimize weight gain.
If sleep is the only concern and mood/psychosis symptoms are not prominent, non-antipsychotic options for insomnia may also be explored with your doctor.

Hii..
Qutipin can cause weight gain and also have effects on metabolism and cardiac.. hence long-term use at a small age is not recommended..
There are many other newer drugs which have less side effects but the root cause of your insomnia should be treated first than long term sleeping pills so, that you can be cured.
There is a need for complete evaluation for identifying the problem for insomnia and treating it effectively
