Olanzapine 2.5 mg lowest effective dose
Quetiapine can be tapered down below 50 mg,
Indications are different for both Medications on this dose,
If sleep problem is the main symptom, Quetiapine should be chosen
If there are psychotic symptoms such as delusion, hallucination in improving phase , Olanzapine in this lowest dose is preferred for maintenance of improvement
For vigilance of side effect, weight, BMI, sugar, lipid profile,ECG should be monitored in at least 3 months for both Medications
For long-term use, Quitipin (Quetiapine) is generally considered safer metabolically and better tolerated.
Oleanz (Olanzapine) works very well for strong mood or psychotic symptoms.
Both require periodic doctor review, blood sugar, lipid profile, and weight checks every 3–6 months.
