Hello Ma’am, Heaviness and tightness in the legs at night with disturbed sleep can be due to circulation issues, vitamin/mineral deficiencies, or restless leg syndrome. The described symptoms most likely suggest benign nocturnal leg discomfort, possibly due to venous stasis or early restless legs syndrome (RLS), although absence of pain, dysesthesia, and movement urge makes RLS less typical. The feeling of “wearing socks,” no pain, and relief upon standing point toward fluid redistribution and mild venous insufficiency, common in elderly individuals
Next Steps
Encourage daily walking and gentle leg movement, especially in the evening. Advise leg elevation before sleep to reduce venous pooling. Suggest avoiding prolonged standing during the day. Evaluate for any medication side effects if new drugs have been started. If symptoms persist >3-4 weeks or worsen, consult a physician for: Doppler ultrasound to rule out venous insufficiency or DVT (deep vein thrombosis) Review of iron, B12, vitamin D, and electrolyte status Assessment for peripheral neuropathy or RLS
Health Tips
Watch for new signs: leg swelling, redness, pain, or numbness—seek urgent care if these develop. Ensure adequate hydration and nutrition. Maintain a regular sleep routine as sleep disturbance may worsen leg discomfort. Avoid caffeine and alcohol in the evening.

Dear Practo User. Thanks for sending across your query. Heaviness and tightness in legs at night without pain may indicate poor circulation, nerve compression, or nutritional deficiency. Disturbed sleep and weight loss need further evaluation. At 78, it's important to rule out vascular or neurological causes. For further details.
Next Steps
Visit or consult online in Dr. Monga Medi Clinic for detailed assessment and effective treatment to improve comfort and sleep.
