I've been feeling severely sad and overwhelmed, easily irritable, have been feeling suicidal too, should I consult a psychiatrist or a psychologist?
I've never done this before and have not been diagnosed with anything.

Each mental health professional has their own role. I can see that you've been overwhelmed and are having vulnerable thoughts. It can be helpful to connect with a psychologist who can help you feel safe. The counselor can also equip you with appropriate coping resources. If the need arises, they can direct you to a psychiatrist who will help you in the form of medicines. I hope this helps.

You should take a consultation with a psychiatrist and if you're having suicidal thoughts then i would recommend you do it at the earliest possible time.
Any stressors?
It’s better to take a Psychiatrist consultation. Detailed history to be taken to make a management plan which can also involve a psychologist for therapy.
