Pre diabetes
Hi.. On the health check up, I noticed that HBA1C is 5.9, estimated average glucose is 123, random blood sugar level after 2 hour of breakfast is 106. Is there something to worry..  Do I need medication ? No family history of diabetes. I am controlling my sugar intake already. Thanks!

Yes according to Definition Hba1c is in Pre-Diabetic range. Your post prandial sugar is normal. There are certain common causes which can lead to false high Hba1c. First it should be checked by HPLC method by designated laboratory according to NGSP. Even mild Anemia due to Iron Deficiency and B12 deficiency can lead to little false high Hba1c so it would prudent do your complete blood picture to see Hemoglobin and RBC morphology. Anyways you should adopt lifestyle changes irrespective of these values as even when these values are normal but falling in higher normal range you are at risk of progression to Diabetes over the time.
