Please advise if Re RCT is possible?
I have had a root canal on tooth #6, 7 years ago. I now have a chronic periapical abscess with cheek swelling. My CBCT (attached) shows infection but no clear fracture. I want the best effort to save the tooth (re-RCT) before extraction. Could you please advise if it is possible?

I think extraction is a better option as the lesion is large.

Hello sir. We’re sorry to hear about your past experience with dental treatment. Your CBCT scan indicates a significantly large periapical abscess. While a re-root canal treatment (Re-RCT) can be attempted, it is important to understand that the prognosis is uncertain and long-term success cannot be guaranteed. In some cases, the treatment may not remain effective for even a year. For a more predictable and durable outcome, the recommended long-term solution would be extraction of the affected tooth followed by replacement with an appropriate prosthesis.
Next Steps
Immediate dental consultation.
