Perianal abscess
I have perianal abscess on and off from the past 3 years ...done my mri but it shows no sign of fistula... doctor told me it is only 1 cm abscess just leave it ...no need of surgery...and advised me to be on high fibre diet ...but my question is if no surgery required then why I keep getting anal abscess on the same spot from past more than 3 years...what should I do? Pls help

One reason could be you are having MRSA colonisation over your body surfaces and this being a resistant bug causing recurrent infection. Another could be hairy skin which again predispose to such infections. Sedentary lifestyle also add into it. You don’t have fistula that’s a good thing.

Show to general surgeon. Get cbc once to rule out your immune system is fine. Though cbc is not the best test to check anyone’s immunity but I think you can begin with that.

Perianal abscess occurs due to infection of the region around the anal canal with causes collection of pus. The infection usually reaches there from a wound in the canal(fissure). The wound occurs due to hard stools and constipation.
So if you do not have correct that then it keeps recurring. A perianal abscess usually ends up in a fistula in ano which is very difficult to treat.
You need to change your diet and lifestyle first.

There is no point to take antibiotics for weeks together for this.
