Pain after RCT
I got my RCT done and since then I am having pain. It is been more than a month now and pain is still there. Due to the pain I have delayed crown placement as I am not satisfied. I revisited to my doctor and after taking the X-ray he confirmed that RCT is fine but I am having mostly mild pain all the time and sometimes it's severe too. I had to take 1 Combiflam every week, rest of the days I just bear the pain and avoid taking painkillers. What should I do? Should I go ahead with crown? Is it possible that pain could be because crown is not placed? I am chewing food also from that side because other side is also open because of RCT and one crown is still pending. Currently 3 RCTs are going on, one is complete and for rest two crown is pending. Please help me to understand the cause of pain. Thanks in advance

Sometimes the pulp tissue is not completely removed (lateral canals or accessory canal). That might cause the pain. Pulp is the tissue in teeth containing nerves and blood vessels. And also check for the filling that has been done after RCT. Filling should not be touching the upper teeth. You can go for temporary crown before the permanent crown.

If after root canal treatment you are feeling pain then might be their is some infection left.  Attach photographs of x ray of that tooth for better guidance of possible. You can ask your dentist to place temporary crown over tooth to see whether it's paining or not. Consult doctor online or offline for better guidance and treatment options.

RCT means the infected pulp (that consists of the nerves and blood vessels) has been removed entirely from that particular tooth and with that the cause of pain from that tooth is also eliminated. There might be a possibility of some amount of remaining (infected) pulp being still there in any of the main/accessory canal that is causing the pain. Even if the crown hasn’t been placed yet, a temporary crown/filling must be there. Check if it is in contact with the opposite tooth and thereby causing pain. Also ensure there is no food lodgement in that area.
