I got the first sitting of RCT done but my temporary filling and a small part of the tooth chipped off. Is it serious? There is no pain. Also is the second sitting of RCT painful? I have so far only been given temporary filling, and yet to get permanent filling. My tooth was decayed and slightly shaky earlier
with Pulpitis. Please advice. Thanks

Usually in the first appointment for root canal treatment ,pulp(nerve) is extirpated ,so the subsequent visits are not painful.
Care needs to be taken to avoid biting anything hard during the treatment as tooth becomes brittle and can easy fracture .
Small chipping can be taken of, in the final restoration.
Next Steps
Visit Dentist for temporary filing to be replaced and assess the chipped part of tooth
Health Tips
Avoid biting anything too chewy or hard in the interim

Second sitting will not be painful . Tooth breaks because RCT cause tooth to be brittle so it tend to break easily . Complete the RCT followed by crown placement to save further damage
Hello
That is nothing to worry about the chip off maybe it can be restored if it is a small part
The second sitting is not usually painful
Just go with the doctors advice
As per your description your tooth part that chipped off might be temporary restoration.....and that is quite normal...
If pain is not now then on second sitting there will be no pain.
Hello
The broken piece might be the unsupported tooth structure which broke off when the forces came on it.
No need to worry, during the permanent filling that much structure can be built up
Hello, as long as it's just a small part of the tooth is broken, nothing to worry about.
Temporary filling is done for easy access in case of pain.
Long standing and deep decay in the tooth causes the tooth to weaken.
No 2nd sitting is not usually painful.
Next Steps
Book an appointment with the dentist to seal it with a temporary filling to avoid re-infection to the tooth
Health Tips
Avoid chewing on hard foods on that particular tooth till a permanent filling and crown is placed
I hope the doctor must have told u all the ifs and buts before starting rct and he may have also discussed the rate of sucess of rct regarding your concerned tooth. Although if he has started he's quite determined that your teeth will be shaped .so relax and just let him know about that temporary filling and chipping of tooth .Look theres slight pain which can be controlled by medicine during the complete rct duration and few days even after that. Just keep your doctor posted.
