Outer knee pain after run

I participated in a 21km half marathon 2 months back after training for about 3 months. During the race my outer side of the left knee started paining. Now after taking 2 months of rest when i go out to run the pain comes back after 2kms of running. I looked up online and it seems like a IT band problem. Would love some inputs. thanks.

Since its sports injury line of treatment is icing rest and tape the muscles around knee joint from a physio.when pain subsides go for knee strengthening and flexibility exercises.also tape ur knee before going for a run.u will need a physio good at it.:-)

There are chances that you must have suffered ligament tear and just with rest it hasn't healed. You will require proper physiotherapy treatment protocol to reduce pain and strengthen your knee.
