Root canal is not necessary for veneer. Only small amount of tooth structure is removed so does not necessarily weaken tooth. But yes it requires grinding of tooth. If you dont want to grind tooth other options like composite restoration and ortho treatment can be done

Veeners, of course leads to sensitivity later. Root canal treatment is not necessary before veeners. Depending upon the cause, you can opt for RCT followed by a crown. ( If damage if large).
