Hyperactivity and speech delay are part of Learning Disability (LD) It needs to be treated asap otherwise it may get complicated and can affect his personal and social life. It can be well treated with occupational therapy, remedial measures and homeopathic medicine effectively and without any side effects. Psychometric test should be done before starting any occupational or speech therapy for a customised approach. Diagnosis of various psychological parameters will give us better direction for treatment. Homeopathic medicine would be a good solution for him at this age. Avoid allopathic medicines which can be addictive and can cause side effects. It needs to be treated in a holistic approach for complete recovery. You need an expert Psychologist who is a good homeopathic physician.

Dear concerned parent, Occupational therapy and early intervention are most effective, while medicines are used only when necessary and do not cause recurrence if properly guided.

Hi... Please consult another professional on this. Did the current professionals provided any particular diagnosis (ADHD or)? If so please mention it in your query. Medicines are only prescribed by a Psychiatrist. If that's the case, do follow medical advice or take a second opinion by another Psychiatrist who specializes in such issue among children. Typically, unless it is very severe, medications use is avoided in general and also for young children. Your concerns about it's side effects (dependence, reoccurence) are genuine and can only be ruled out after proper examination of the case.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychiatrist for Medications side effects. Consult a Psychologist for Counselling.
