Obsessive compulsive disorder
I am diagnosed with ocd and my doctor has prescribed 100 mg sertraline , 1 tablet a day...he had prescribed me to take in the breakfast...but felt very drowsy and uncomfortable, also suffered from acidity..finally, with consulting him, i changed my medicine timing to night..but after a week, i am unable to sleep at night...it keeps me awake at night, and feel very restless and sleepless throughout the day...i m confused, which timing will be suitable for me at this dose...kindly suggest.

Sertraline is a SSRI - Selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor, having a very commonly observed side effect of gastric irritation, commonly referred as acidity. Firstly few people can tolerate a direct dose of 100mg, but majority of the patients complain of gastrointestinal issues, so it should be introduced at lower doses like 25 mg or 50 mg, once tolerated should be gradually increased,
Next Steps
Considering other molecules available which are proven to be little more efficacious than Sertaline in case of OCD with lesser side effects like drowsiness and sleep disturbances (again a observed side effect of SSRI if given at night may hamper sleep architecture for some patients), a shift to another molecule can be suggested.
Health Tips
If there is response to Sertraline, then side effects should be tackled with Antacid like Pantoprazole/esmoprazole, or consider taking dose of Sertraline in between ur meal (take half of ur routine meal, consume the tablet and then finish the rest half of your meal), if still unbearable side effects consult a psychiatrist to reintroduce the drug with the policy of start low dose go slow to increase the dose.

It is not chosen by many as first choice for OCD and also not 100mg. Better get a second opinion from an astute psychiatrist either in person or online. Good luck

Need to evaluate your symptoms before jumping to diagnosis and yes avoid sertaline at night as it obviously causes sleep disturbance and excessive dreaming.so try to take it after lunch and for initial few days take medication for gastritis then and start it from lower dose. But again if it’s OCD ,other good options are there

Ssri causes insomnia in some patients and drowsiness in some. Try it in morning after breakfast as in empty stomach you will get more acidity. Body need some time for adapting so wait for atleast two weeks as side effects are time dependent it may go away with time if persistent then change to other medication and therapy for ocd.

It might not be just the timing issue, maybe a change in medicine is required. Sertraline doesnt suit everyone. Also there are better molecules available for OCD.
