Numbness can be due to many causes..very important to diagnose correctly..
Possible causes are
Nerve pinching in neck
Peripheral neuropathy especially in you have family history or diabetes.
See a Neurologist if you dont have neck issues otherwise consult Orthopedic spine specialist. They will refer u to a Physiotherapist who can treat the same.
Xray cervical spine...is compulsory for finding nerve root compression. ....you can physically examined by compression test of cervical spine. ....if this test is positive then go for MRI/ xray cervical spine....
