This is classic post-viral gastritis with delayed stomach emptying - the fever irritated your gut lining, so nausea, a bad taste and food aversion linger even after the fever has gone. It is not dangerous, but if you keep avoiding water and food, dehydration and weakness will make the nausea worse.
Next Steps
Sip ORS or coconut water in small amounts every 15 minutes and eat tiny bland meals - khichdi, curd rice, banana, toast - rather than nothing at all. Avoid tea on empty stomach, oily food and painkillers. If nausea is still there after 5-7 days, or you notice vomiting of blood, yellow eyes or high fever, get seen the same day. Consult me on Practo and I will start the right anti-nausea and acid treatment and check your liver with a simple blood test.

get your typhoid test done. if its positive you may need treatment for the same. it would have been nice if you have mentioned which part of abdomen you had pain. coz sometimes appendicitis also presents in the same way as your symptoms are. i had a patient who had only lack of appetite and mild abdominal discomfort for a week followed by appendiceal rupture. better to get evaluated for yourself.

Persistent post-viral nausea and an inability to keep down fluids or food require prompt medical evaluation to prevent severe dehydration. While temporary digestive upset and altered taste are common during and after a viral illness, your symptoms need professional attention because you cannot eat or drink properly. Key Considerations & Next Steps Risk of Dehydration: The inability to take in water or fluids is the primary concern. Hydration is critical for recovery. Post-Viral Effects: Viral infections can temporarily irritate the stomach lining (gastritis) or slow down digestion, leading to prolonged nausea and taste alterations. When to Seek Immediate Care: Consult a doctor or visit urgent care right away, especially if you notice signs of severe dehydration such as extreme thirst, dry mouth, little to no urination, dark urine, dizziness, or confusion. What You Can Do in the Meantime Sip Tiny Amounts: Try taking tiny, frequent sips of water, electrolyte solutions, or ice chips rather than drinking full gulps. Bland Options: Avoid solid, rich, or heavy foods until you can tolerate liquids comfortably. Rest: Avoid pressing on your stomach and rest in an upright or slightly elevated position after sipping liquids.

To treat nausea and vomiting after a viral fever, focus on hydration by taking small, frequent sips of water, oral rehydration salts (ORS), or clear broths. Rest your stomach by avoiding solid food for a few hours, then slowly transition to bland foods like plain rice, toast, and crackers.
