Mouth ulcers
I am having repeated mouth ulcer and constipation from childhood. It goes and comes. I take multivitamin tablet but that doesn't work on long run. Please suggest blood test that I should take to rule out issue.

Oral ulcers are minor and major ulcers. Usually recurrent ulcers are minor ulcer we call, especially if it's not there in hard palate and there is no other systemic issues. In my Gastroenterology practice what we do is, clinically asses for any features of any other Diseases. If nothing, I ask for some basic tests like CBC,vitamin b12, Folate levels, ANA-IF and stool test for H Pylore After seeing this will decide regarding need for any Endosocpy or colonsocopy. Regards. Mouth ulcers + Childhood constipation is a classic hallmark of gut disorders like Celiac disease (gluten intolerance) or IBD like Crohn's disease. These conditions damage the intestinal lining, causing poor nutrient absorption which subsequently triggers ulcers.
Next Steps
Do necessary investigation. Blood tests are the first-line investigation to detect antibodies your immune system produces in response to gluten. 1. tTG-IgA (Tissue Transglutaminase IgA) 2. Total Serum IgA
Health Tips
Report with the tests. If they are negative, we can go to the second line investigation.
