Mouth opening needed fr dental procedure
I've been a trismus patient for a few years now. At times, my mouth opening has been reduced to as low as 5-7mm. I do physiotherapy to keep my mouth opening at an optimum level (around 20-25mm), and it does show some result. I was thinking about getting braces, and was wondering how much mouth opening (in millimetres) is required by the dentists for this, or any other basic dental procedure. A little unusual question I know, but would be a great help if you could answer me.

Hii... 5 to 7 mm mouth opening is too less to go for any treatment... Ideally 3 finger mouth opening should be there for ortho or any other dental treatment to be done... If this condition is because of  tobacco or smoking, you should definitely quit it asap. You can have injection therapy for mouth opening.

If there is malocclusion, you can get orthodontic treatment done. But mouthopening has to be improved initially. Muscle relaxants along with corticosteroids has to be taken. Cause of this muscle has to be diagnosed based on history. You can consult through this for diagnosis and treatment plan.
