Montek LC for allergy/Sneezing
I have been sneezing since years and the only solution that works is Montek LC. Weekly 3 times Montek LC is must . No nasal spray helps , tried several. Itchy eyes Continous sneezing Nose itching heavily No other symptoms. Did allergy test too and doctor recommends Montek LC everytime. Is there any alternate ? Is Montek LC bad for long term or is it okay to continue?

YES and NO YES : Montek LC works by inhibiting the mechanism involved in sneezing and itching. NO : It doesn't target the trigger for repeated sneezing and itching. Basically, the cause of your sneezing has not been targeted
Next Steps
Please try the following methods 1. Warm water gargles before and after bed. 2. Steam inhalation thrice a day if possible. Please try to be more vigilant for situations/locations which lead to these episodes and try to actively avoid them. You may continue Montec LC as it provides you relief, there are no long term side effects.
Health Tips
Since I am unaware of your allergy reports, I can't comment if it is due to allergy or not. Please consult an ENT specialist if allergy is not the cause, as you may have Vasomotor Rhinitis (NOT a serious disease, but needs evaluation and further management) Hoping to have been of help, Dr. Ishan Trivedi

It sounds like you are dealing with Chronic Allergic Rhinitis About Montek LC and Long-Term Use: • Levocetirizine is a non-sedating antihistamine — safe for long-term use in most people. • Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor blocker — also generally safe long-term, but: • Rarely associated with mood changes, sleep disturbances, or vivid dreams in some people • Used widely for asthma and allergic rhinitis If you’re not having side effects, using Montek LC 2–3 times per week is acceptable and often necessary in chronic allergies. Also, share your allergy tests Advise: 1. Covering your mouth, preferably using a face mask will protect you from dust/allergens. 2. Hydrate yourself — assess if eating or drinking something initiates an allergic reaction. 3. Vitamin C tablets — 1 - 0 - 1 x 10 days 4. Steam Inhalation twice a day with Karvol Plus capsules (nasal decongestant) 5. Fluticasone Nasal Spray — Use 2 puffs before the initiation of sneezing, it will help you stop sneezing.

Share results of your allergy tests. Use face mask, when exposed to dust or fumes. Tab vit c 500mg one every morning and evening for 15 days. Use honey regularly, even if in small quantity. Use fluticasone nasal spray, 2 puffs the moment sneezing starts, it will abort sneezing. Regular steam inhalation at least twice each day with karvol capsule will help in symptoms. Drink more water. Assess yourself, if eating or drinking something or using on body, initiates sneezing, avoid it. Above measures will minimise need of montek lc.
