Hello It would be better if you can visit the dentist and get the x-ray of the teeth to check the lateral incisor

Hello, The lateral incisor should have erupted by now. Check with your dentist and get an X-ray done to check the positioning of the tooth or there is something obstructing the Eruption. It could be just a delayed eruption or missing altogether entirely.
Next Steps
Get an appointment with the dentist and get an X-ray done for better clarity on the delay

Hello, Eruption of milk teeth in children go on till 3-3.5 years of age. Generally laterals do erupt by age 2. I would like to know if there was any problem during birth, was the baby born premature or late? And when did the first tooth erupt? Also, an xray really helps to know what exactly is the situation inside. An photo taken with your phone will also help initially till the xray is done The gap between lateral and canine is generally a healthy sign as permanent teeth are bigger than milk teeth but with a missing lateral as you say, an Xray would give more clarity
Next Steps
Do not worry, Since your child is 2 years only, please visit us, we can gently take only 1 small Xray if needed in a way the child is comfortable and guide you for what to look out for and what are the next steps to be taken It shouldn’t be anything major, take care
