I need help with coping with emotions like anxiety and stress. I am always sad and I overreact to every little things in my life. I need counseling so that I understand what is happening in mind and to deal with my day to day issues. My emotions are affecting my partner as well as people I am staying with. I am not able to deal with it properly and talking to my partner is not helping. His words are just making my feel miserable.

Hi, Looks like you are going through lot of Stress, leading to Anxiety and depression Stress is a very common part of our life. We should know how to deal with it and learn coping skills, as life keeps throwing challenges at us. Many a times anxiety keeps us motivated and makes us to accomplish lot of work, at the same time anxiety can also cause lot of worries and lead to unnecessary overthinking, restlessness, irritability. If this negative symptoms and negative thoughts continue for longer duration of time then it starts disturbing a routine Which can lead to sleep disturbances, low confidence, low self esteem continuous negative thoughts, constant worrying. We humans are different from each other, no human is perfect hence we all have our own limitations and these limitations can be different for different people. Maybe you are a sensitive personality. Sensitive personality can have lot of strengths skills intelligence and capabilities, but may have less tolerance or capabilities to face emotional stressful condition. Hence they might suffer lot of discomfort during these emotional stressful conditions like the symptoms which I mentioned earlier like sleep disturbances, restlessness anxiety, irritability, lack of concentration difficulty in memory and unnecessary and overthinking

I understand your predicament and would like to make a few suggestions that might help you: In simple terms we experience the Mind as thoughts. At a given point of time, various kinds of thoughts may flash across your mind screen. Without realizing that thoughts appear like clouds passing in the sky, we totally identify ourselves with our thoughts. Instead, realize that you have the power to choose which thought you wish to focus on and act on and exercise that power. Learn to be an observer of your thoughts from a distance. When you repeatedly focus on a thought, the corresponding emotion rises in the brain and overpowers you. Once you understand the physiology of emotion, with practice, you can easily learn to recognize, understand and manage your emotions. Take care.
