Lower wisdom tooth extraction
I had lower right wisdom tooth extraction 2 years back. It was impacted with high infection such that all gum area around that tooth was bruised .I was not even able to eat anything properly because of infection taste in mouth . Mainly teeth was in very bad shape . I didn't took any antibiotics before extraction. During tooth extraction , surgeon gave local anesthesia , i felt numbed and didn't felt anything while he was cutting gums and bone but when he tried pulling tooth out , it pained extremely unbearable, he was not able to understand that why it is paining even after anaesthesia. Now left lower wisdom tooth is also impacted and i have to get it removed but i am extremely scared as my first wisdom tooth removal was not good. This time tooth is healthy but it is horizontally impacted so have to get it removed So i want to understand why my wisdom tooth removal pained the first time and what can i do now to make it painless .

When there is severe infection local anaesthesia may not work .so we need to control infection with the pre antibiotic course and then proceed for extraction No need to worry about other side we can do it even more comfortably with our piezo extraction techniques

It sounds like your first wisdom tooth extraction was quite challenging due to the infection and the tooth's condition. Dental procedures can vary in terms of pain and discomfort based on individual factors, including the complexity of the case, the presence of infection, and the patient's pain threshold. To potentially have a smoother experience with your upcoming wisdom tooth extraction: Communicate Your Concerns: Discuss your previous experience with your dentist. Share your concerns and fears so that they can address them and tailor their approach accordingly. Consult with an Oral Surgeon: If your previous extraction was particularly difficult, you might consider seeing an oral surgeon this time. Oral surgeons specialize in complex extractions and can ensure that the procedure is done efficiently and with minimal discomfort. Pre-Extraction Preparation: If you have concerns about pain during the procedure, ask your dentist or oral surgeon about options for additional pain management. They might consider different types of local anesthesia, sedation, or pain relief techniques to ensure your comfort. Follow Post-Extraction Care: After the extraction, make sure to follow the post-operative instructions provided by your dentist or oral surgeon. Proper care and following their recommendations can help minimize discomfort and promote healing. Relaxation Techniques: Practice relaxation techniques such as deep breathing or meditation before the procedure to help manage anxiety. Ask Questions: Don't hesitate to ask your dentist or oral surgeon any questions you have about the procedure, the anesthesia, the expected level of pain, and the aftercare. Remember, every dental procedure is unique, and while it's natural to feel anxious, discussing your concerns with a dental professional can help ensure that your experience is as comfortable as possible.

Take a painkiller one hour before extraction. If there’s an indication for extraction go in for it. One bad experience didn’t account for another bad experience. At times the cases may differ in the same mouth. There may be many reasons to Anaesthesia not being effective.
Next Steps
Get your tooth extracted if indicated
Health Tips

sometimes it happens that patient needs more anaesthesia, there are many reasons for this, one of the reason is infection below the tooth area. thats why we mostly prescribe antibiotic course before extraction. Don't worry for your another tooth consult your dentist, take medicines as prescribed by your doctor and go ahead.

Hi, The right side wisdom tooth had a lot of infection as you mentioned, which could be the main cause of the pain while removing the tooth. It is not necessary to experience the same pain while removing the left side tooth. Share an OPG x-ray to get a better idea about the position of the left side wisdom tooth.

Always start with antibiotics and painkillers a day before the scheduled appointment. In your case the effect of anaesthesia could have been checked by examining your subjective and objective symptoms before starting with the procedure. If infection is severe or pus formation is there then also the complete effect of anaesthesia cannot be achieved. That’s why antibiotic coverage beforehand helps in controlling the infection.

Your fear is but obvious when you had a bad experience before but then if you go to a proper oral surgeon he would do the procedure painless and it should be alright. As all are fingers are not the same so it's not necessary that you have the pain on the other side too but don't have that pain in your mind otherwise it will surely be.
