Low iron and high eosinophil
My recent blood test shows Hb 11.2 g/ dL, ferritin 8.84 ng/mL, serum iron 23.2 µg/dL and transferrin saturation 6.15%, consistent with iron-deficiency anemia. My eosinophils are also very high at 30%, with an absolute eosinophil count of 2268 cells/cu.mm. I have been experiencing recurrent gastric/stomach pain and haven't taken a deworming tablet in a while. I am also a competitive athlete/rower and have noticed elevated heart rate and reduced performance. Could the eosinophilia, stomach symptoms and iron deficiency be related, for example due to a parasitic infection? What investigations would you recommend? I used to take orofer xt tablets a while back, do I start taking it again My VitB12 and VitD values are also in the lower end- 263 pg/mL and 18.5 ng/mL respectively.

Yes those symptoms could be due to worm infestation.  Take tab bandy plus one after dinner with hot water or milk,  repeat after 15 days. Take oral iron, b12, vit d supplements.

The combination of iron deficiency n mod eosinophilia n recurrent abdominal pain could be a parasitic cause particularly hookworm/Strongyloides, but other causes also need consideration.

Your results confirm iron-deficiency anaemia, and the eosinophilia needs evaluation; both may coexist, but a parasitic cause is not the only possibility. Please consult a physician for stool routine/ova-parasite testing (preferably 3 samples), repeat CBC with smear, and assessment for allergy or other causes. Start iron only after confirming a suitable dose and cause; do not self-medicate with deworming tablets. Because you have reduced exercise performance, please book a consultation on Practo for a focused review.

It can be a Parasitic infection if you also observe low grade fever now and then. But a smear/ stool ova/parasite testing will help there.
Next Steps
Consult a sports medicine expert
Health Tips
Meanwhile you can opt for dietary modifications, eat iron rich food.

The combination of iron-deficiency symptoms, high eosinophils, and ongoing stomach pain is worth investigating together rather than one at a time, since a parasitic infection can cause exactly this picture.
Next Steps
Ask for a stool test for ova and parasites alongside your iron workup, and loop in a gastroenterologist given how long the stomach symptoms have lasted.
Health Tips
Please don't restart any iron supplement on your own, since the right choice and duration depend on what the workup finds.
