My mother is having sudden knee pain from past 2 months. She has had an x-ray and an MRI, attaching the MRI report. Doctor has given the below medicines - Zerodol-SP, Pan 40, Bonicor Max. These medicines are prescribed for 6 weeks. Doctor has also asked to used a hot water bag and some exercises. Please check the attached report and let me know what exactly is the problem and if the prescribed medicines are to be followed.

This treatment is being suggested on bases of the information provided. However

Control Hypertension, Diabetes or any other metabolic disorder, if there is any.
Any way it may be tried,
--. Dolokind Plus (Mankind) [Aceclofenac100 mg +Paracetamol 350 mg] 1 tab. OD & SOS. X 5 days.
--. Caldikind plus (Mankind) 1 tab OD x 10 days.
(You may need help of your local doctor to get these medicines.)
--. Fomentation with warm water. Let the part not be exposed to cold.
--. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding.
--. Use no pillow under the head.
--. Avoid painful acts & activities.
-- .Do mild exercises for knees and ankles and feet.
--.(Take help of a physiotherapist).
--Do not ignore, let it not become beginning of a major problem.
--Do ask for a detailed treatment plan.
Kindly make sure, there is no allergy to any of these medicines.

Yes Medicines will help to some extent for pain but if it is already 2 months with this pain and MRI report she needs surgery in the form of arthroscopic meniscectomy . But this surgery will be helpful if there is no gross arthritis of the joint .If there is gross arthritis then the surgical procedure will be a different one named Total Knee Replacement. Continue with exercises and physiotherapy.
