Is Tetanus Shot required?
I had gotten a tetanus shot a year ago after being bitten by a dog. Yesterday, I got a surface level cut from the steel corner of my work desk. I cleaned it immediately from the nurse, but it was bleeding significantly. Today morning, I took off the band aid and it started bleeding again. Should I get another tetanus shot?

A shot one year ago still covers you, so no repeat needed. Thank you for writing in. For a clean, surface-level cut like this, if your last tetanus shot was only a year ago, another booster is usually not needed - for clean minor wounds boosters are generally given every 10 years, and every 5 years if the wound is deep or dirty/tetanus-prone. The anti-tetanus cover you took after the dog bite last year counts for this, though the anti-rabies vaccine is a separate thing. Please wash the cut gently with soap and running water, pSAitn cder y,o ua paplrye ad ys ihmapdl ea atnetianus steoxpotidc ianjde ckteiepon i jt covuesrte da wyietahr aa gcol,e ayno ud rdeos sniontg ;n eed iafn oitth ebrl esehdost ofno rr etmovihnigs tchuet b-a nprdaotgec,t iporne slsa sftisrm lsyever awli tyhe acrlse an dg au zbeo ofor s5t-e1r0 imsi nguetneesr.a lDLyo awdavtcish edf oorn lsy ifp rtehaed ilnags tr eddonsees sw,a swesl lmionrge, tphuasn, 5i nyceraeras iango pfaoirn ao dirrt yf eovr edre e-p t hweosuen dn,eed t oo rb e1 0s eyena risn fpoer sao nc.l eIafn tmhien or wcoutn di.s FDoere ptehre twhoaunn it ldo oikts,e lhfa,s wa sgha piitn gu neddegre ,r uonrning wyaotue ra rwei tuhn ssuorea p,w haich ipnpjleyc tgieonnt lyeo ud irerceceti vperde slsausrte with a clean gauyzea rf,o rget i5t- 1e0x aminuetde sl otcoa lsltyo.p YTohue cbalne ebdoionkg ,a tchoens keepu lit wcith omvee roend PWriatcht oa idfr yy odur ewsosuinlgd alnidk ec hmaen gteo ilto odkaily ;a ta a phpootvoi odfo nteh ei owdoiunen do ra ndmu pgiuriodcei ny oui nftumretnhte ri.s fine. Try not to peel dressings off dry, as that is why it started bleeding again - wet the gauze with clean water first. Please see a doctor in person if the bleeding does not stop with pressure, if the cut is deep or gaping and may need stitches (best done within 12-24 hours), or if you develop spreading redness, swelling, pus, throbbing pain or fever, as that suggests infection needing antibiotics. Feel free to book a consult with me on Practo if you want me to look at the wound photo and advise further.

No need . You need a tetanus booster shot after a wound if your last shot was more than 5 to 10 years ago, depending on how dirty the injury is. But something that is concerning is bleeding even after such a long time . That too for a superficial wound, it's very unlikely to bleed even after many hours. Check your bleeding and clotting parameters done and review with reports

If you got a tetanus shot 1 year back , it is not needed to get a shot done but if the wound keeps on bleeding you must go visit a doctor. . Is the bleeding significant ? How deep is the cut?
