Skin will not naturally regrow over a large deglove injury like yours; medical treatment such as skin grafting is essential, and complete healing can take several weeks to months depending on wound size and care

It depends on the extent and the depth of the wound. It would usually take months for a degloving injury to heal. It might also leave scar while healing. For the better results consult a plastic surgeon for skin grafting.
Health Tips
consider skin grafting.

Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician. I understand your concern. ➡️ A degloving injury (skin peeled off from knee to ankle) is a serious wound and normal skin will not grow back on its own like in minor cuts. It usually needs special surgical treatment for proper healing. General Advice: Keep the wound clean and properly dressed as per your doctor’s instructions. Take high-protein diet (milk, eggs, pulses, nuts) to support healing. Avoid smoking and alcohol, as they delay recovery. What to monitor: Redness, foul smell, fever, or increased pain (signs of infection). Proper circulation and movement of toes and foot. Healing progress with regular doctor check-ups. Treatment: Such large wounds often require skin grafting or flap surgery by a plastic/orthopedic surgeon. Time for healing depends on wound size, blood supply, and type of surgery done — it can take weeks to months with regular dressings and surgical support. When to consult a doctor immediately: Fever or spreading redness around wound. Blackish skin or loss of sensation. Bleeding or severe pain. I strongly recommend follow-up with a plastic surgeon/orthopedic surgeon for wound management and to plan skin cover. You can connect with me directly on Practo or reach me on WhatsApp (85271646 seven seven) for a more personalized consultation. Best regards, Dr. Romain Rajan General Physician
