Iron level
My Hb is 12.8 and Iron level is 48 which is low as per the report's lower range is 50. Ferritin too is 23 whereas the upper is 200. Should i take Ferrous Ascorbate or any other medicine or try to improve with food only? I eat nonveg as well as green veggies atleast twice every week. Dont know why it is low. Rest all nutrition parameters were good like magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, vitamin D etc

Ferritin is the best and most accurate indicator in order to assess iron deficiency. It’s a protein that stores and releases iron into the body. Your ferritin stores are low, in order to optimise it, you would definitely need the right supplement in the most absorbable form, it will build the stores in a few months. I usually use iron biglycinate along with Vit C and recommend the right and trusted brand. You can book a consult with me to understand the dosage. Continue to focus on iron rich foods and also include foods rich in Vit C so that the absorption is maximum.
