Hi Mam , ortho correction would be a ideal choice , single tooth correction may not take year time , if your canine is much palatal from the visible side of your upper teeth ? consult a orthodontist , tel your requirement, ask for his opinion and go for Ortho treatment or extraction . Extent of canine in palatal area??
If it is mild to moderate then othodontic treatment is a good choice and if it is severe placed or inside the bone its removal would be a good and economical choice. Though check up and diagnostic xrays are must.
Canine tooth in palate will not be a problem, it can remain there. If u have issues with appearance of front teeth, it can be made perfect by veneers. It will take a week for complete treatment.
Best option is to get it corrected with orthodontics

Orthodontic correction is treatment of choice in your case. If you want long term good results then you should give time and should not hurry. 1 or 2 year should not make difference when you want permanent solution to problem.
