Hi, I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat MS ENT.
Yes, treatment is available for a perforated (hole in) eardrum, especially if it is an old or chronic condition. The most common cause is Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM). Treatment depends on the size of the perforation, duration, hearing status, and presence of infection.
Next Steps
Conservative Management:
Keep the ear dry (avoid water entry).
Avoid using ear drops without medical advice.
Regular monitoring if symptoms are minimal.
Surgical Treatment (if indicated):
Myringoplasty or Tympanoplasty – a surgical procedure to repair the eardrum. This helps restore hearing and prevents recurrent infections.
Get done PTA
If there is small perforation you can go for TCA application
If large… go for Tympanoplasty or mastoidectomy depending upon HRCT temporal bone and your complaints
