Based on the details you provided: · Your risk of HIV from this single exposure is considered very low. · Starting PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) within 68 hours was the correct and timely action to take. Completing the full course is crucial. · The burning and redness on your forearms are highly unlikely to be HIV symptoms. They are more likely a side effect of the PEP medication or caused by something else entirely. · You must take an HIV test 4-6 weeks after finishing PEP for a conclusive result. This is the only way to know your status for sure. Please consult your prescribing doctor about the side effects and for final confirmation on testing. Do not stop the medication before completion.

Your risk of HIV is extremely low — the condom protected you, and even brief touch before wearing it carries minimal risk. Starting PEP within 68 hours was correct. The burning and redness on your hands are not HIV symptoms, likely a side effect or unrelated skin irritation. You’re safe — just complete your 28-day PEP and test after 6 weeks and 3 months for confirmation.
Next Steps
Complete your 28 day PEP

Your risk of HIV transmission in this case is extremely low. Since there was no penetration without condom and the subsequent intercourse was fully protected, with no condom break or slippage, the exposure is considered non-significant. Starting PEP within 72 hours (68 hrs) and completing the full 28-day course offers very strong protection. The burning and redness on forearms are not symptoms of HIV — more likely due to anxiety, mild allergy, or stress reaction after PEP. You’re safe from HIV, but for complete reassurance, do an HIV 1 & 2 4th generation test at 6 weeks and 12 weeks after exposure. If you’d like me to guide you step-by-step on follow-up tests, side effects, and anxiety control — message me directly on WhatsApp at eight zero zero nine eight two one three three two for a personal consultation and continuous guidance.
