Your lipid profile indicates significantly elevated cholesterol levels that require medical attention. Specifically, your Total Cholesterol (276 mg/dL) and LDL "bad" cholesterol (175 mg/dL) are well above the optimal ranges (under 200 mg/dL and under 100 mg/dL respectively). Additionally, your non-HDL cholesterol is high, and your HDL/LDL ratio is lower than ideal. While these numbers frequently warrant prescription medication (such as a statin) to help lower your cardiovascular risk, initiating lipid-lowering therapy requires a comprehensive evaluation. A physician needs to calculate your overall cardiovascular risk score, which depends on other crucial factors not provided here—including your blood pressure, blood sugar levels, smoking history, body mass index (BMI), and any family history of early heart disease.
Next Steps
Evaluate Cardiovascular Risk and Dietary Modifications: Start reducing your intake of saturated fats and trans fats (found in fried foods, fatty meats, and processed snacks). Increase soluble fiber by eating more oats, beans, lentils, fruits, and vegetables. Physical Activity: Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise (like brisk walking, cycling, or swimming) per week. Avoid Self-Medication: Do not start any cholesterol-lowering medications or heavy over-the-counter supplements without a doctor's explicit prescription and dosage guidance, as routine baseline liver function tests (LFTs) are often checked before starting statin therapy.
