Headache while breastfeeding
I am having one sided headache..either right side or left side of my head...doc diagnosed migraine..I breast feed my baby ..she is 15 days old...if I have extreme headache which medicine can I take while breastfeeding her?

If you are on meds for migraine. You can take tablet Naxdom during your headaches As a general rule of thumb, breast feed the baby, 30mins prior to taking medicines and 4 hours after taking medicine

For the headache you can use paracetamol 650 mg as needed basis.If the headache is recent,post partum headache could be a cause.There are other causes that includes migraine, tension headache.

Postpartum headache is common problem.It may be due to hormonal changes, physiological change or stress. . Because mother is busy in baby so she not giving proper attention to herself. She is not taking proper diet, sometimes hydration is poor and sleep disturbances are also there because she has to feed baby at night also.All these factors are causing headache. BP monitoring is also needed. Usually postpartum headache subsides in 6 weeks when hormonal level comes to normal If headache is more then you can take naproxen or Ibuprofen . local application of ointment is also effective. Reduce stress level.

Since you are a feeding mother paracetamol 500 mg should be fine if pain is unbearable avoid sunlight ... when ever you have pain maintain dark room that way you can decrease the intensity of pain

Hi If u have already been diagnosed with migraines then tab naproxen helps a lot but as u r breast feeding then better to take paracetamol 650 and avoid triggers of ur migraine. But if it still doesn’t help u can consult for further management
